Year-Round Projects

One of my favorite things about teaching elementary is that each and every Holiday, no matter if its Christmas  or Groundhog Day, is celebrated in the classroom! As an ELA teacher I love doing cross curricular activities for different parts of the year by incorporating fictional or non fiction text; social studies facts; and of course, a fun craftivity! Below are pictures of students' seasonal products that have been made this school year.

3rd Graders in front of our Election Board for
our Kid Who Ran for President Unit.

Our classroom elf, Max (like CineMAX) promoting
good citizenship.
After reading Turkey Trouble, 4th graders creatively
wrote a story about escaping & designed a costume for their
Turkey.

Unique bells 3rd graders made for Polar Express Day.
Students "I Have a Dream" brochure for MLK Day. They wrote an acrostic poem for the word "Dream" and provided facts about MLK.

One of our  5th graders proudly showing off his Mardi Gras poster
where he traced the float, and labeled vocabulary  words on the float.
As any teacher knows, students make the
best Valentines! Of course
them with creative treats!

The month of March is one of my favorites! I love celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with our Seuss Unit where students study a biography about Dr. Seuss and review the Figurative Language he used in his writing!
